The wild bilberries (Vaccinium myrtillus) used for our organic wild bilberry powder grow on certified organic land in Finland, far away from industry and conventional agriculture. The wild bilberry differs significantly from the cultivated blueberry commonly found in supermarkets (Vaccinium spp., especially V. corymbosum). These are two fundamentally different species, which also have different names in English (“Blueberry” and “Bilberry”). A cultivated blueberry cannot become a wild bilberry through cultivation. Anthony William also emphasizes this distinction and explicitly recommends wild bilberry powder (“Bilberry”). The gently freeze-dried wild bilberries are carefully ground to produce the powder. This process preserves the valuable nutrients and ensures outstanding quality. The powdered wild bilberries come from certified organic cultivation. 100% natural and vegan, without chemicals or additives. Applies only if the contained magnesium is present in a sufficient dose. Interactions with medicines and nutrients Magnesium influences the effects of many medications – both positively and negatively: Cardiovascular system: Cardiac glycosides: magnesium improves potassium utilization, increases tolerance to cardiac glycosides and reduces side effects. Beta blockers & calcium channel blockers: support blood-pressure-lowering effects and optimize migraine prevention. Diuretics: lead to increased magnesium loss. Antacids (e.g. proton pump inhibitors): impair magnesium absorption over the long term. Bone metabolism (osteoporosis): bisphosphonates impair magnesium absorption. Antibiotics: Quinolones/tetracyclines: complex formation hinders absorption. Aminoglycosides: increase magnesium excretion. Hormonal therapy: Glucocorticoids: increase excretion. Estrogens: promote storage in tissues, blood levels decrease. Diabetes: magnesium reduces insulin resistance and promotes insulin secretion. Psychiatric medications: magnesium may improve the effects of psychostimulants. Conclusion: magnesium can influence the effects of medications and should be considered specifically during certain therapies. Individual advice from a doctor or pharmacist is recommended. Interactions with other nutrients: Trace elements: zinc, phosphorus and calcium impair magnesium absorption. Potassium and magnesium support each other. Vitamins: vitamin B6 is necessary for the cellular enrichment of magnesium, and vitamin D supports magnesium bioavailability.
