The wild bilberry differs significantly from the cultivated blueberry commonly found in supermarkets (Vaccinium spp., especially V. corymbosum). These are two fundamentally different species, which also have different names in English (“Blueberry” and “Bilberry”). A cultivated blueberry cannot become a wild bilberry through cultivation.
