Energy Through Toxin Elimination
Part 4 of our blog series on the topic: Vital energy
Gold, silver, and copper are all metals that enjoy great esteem in our society and culture—wars have even been fought and nations conquered for some of them. However, there are also very different metals: those that can be harmful to our health. Heavy metals from the environment, much like pesticides and other toxins, can enter our bodily system through food or inhalation and accumulate there. Since some of these substances can be harmful even in very small amounts, it is important to address them, eliminate potential sources of toxins in our immediate environment, and, when necessary, support the body in eliminating harmful substances.
Our blog series on the topic: Vital energy
Part 1:
Light, sleep, and vital energy
Quality sleep is one of the body’s basic needs and is essential for a healthy and energetic life.
Part 2:
Energy through fasting
Refocusing on what truly matters, experiencing the body in a completely new and powerful way, expanding mental and physical boundaries, and strengthening overall health.
Part 3:
Energy through proper nutrition
When it comes to nutrition, there are many different schools of thought—some of which contradict one another—and in the jungle of recommendations and well-meant advice, it’s easy to lose track.
Part 4:
Energy through toxin elimination
Heavy metals from the environment, much like pesticides, can enter our system through food. As some of them can be harmful even in small amounts, it is important to be aware of and address them.
Part 5:
Energy through movement
Movement plays a key role in maintaining vitality, supporting circulation, strengthening the body, and promoting overall well-being.
Heavy Metal Burden in the Body
Some heavy metals can be extremely harmful to our bodies, while others are essential trace elements that we need in small amounts to survive. These essential heavy metals include, for example, chromium, iron, copper, and zinc. However, even here the rule does not apply that more is better: even a slight overconcentration of some of these heavy metals can be harmful to the organism or even toxic. Another group of heavy metals is generally considered harmful to health and can be highly toxic even in small quantities; these include, for example, lead, thallium, cadmium, and mercury.
Exposure to Agricultural Chemicals
The fact that pesticides and other agricultural chemicals are harmful to the environment and to our own bodies is certainly no longer news. Increasingly, people are choosing to avoid foods that are conventionally grown—that is, produced using pesticides—out of concern for their health. This is undoubtedly an important step toward environmental protection, as expanding organic farming generally leads to a reduction in the use of agricultural chemicals. Unfortunately, studies in recent years have shown that agricultural toxins are not only absorbed through food. Traces of glyphosate were found in 99.6% of urine samples collected across Germany—both in people who consume exclusively organic foods and in those who do not.
The herbicide is classified by the WHO as “probably carcinogenic” and has now been detected in the air throughout Germany. Unfortunately, glyphosate is not the only substance we absorb into our bodies through breathing: in the same study, researchers identified a further 137 pesticide active substances and degradation products that could be detected in the air across Germany. Among these were even around 30% of pesticides that no longer have any approval at all.
Pesticides that enter our bodies accumulate over time and can affect organs, hormonal balance, cellular health, the nervous system, and fertility even in small amounts. They are primarily stored in fatty tissue, which means they are also released again during weight loss. If a high level of exposure is suspected, weight loss should therefore not occur too rapidly in order
How Does Detoxification Work?
Conclusion
Unfortunately, living in an industrialized world brings with it a number of negative effects on our bodies. Whether we like it or not, our environment contains a wide range of harmful substances that can enter the body and accumulate there. To counteract the negative effects that heavy metals, agricultural chemicals, and similar toxins can have on our health, more and more people are turning to daily preventive measures such as special smoothies or targeted detox programs using plants or minerals. While there is still much to learn and explore in this field, what ultimately matters is that we feel healthy and vital—and detoxification programs can play an important role in supporting that goal.
